According to the Metro, Arsenal are on the trail of highly-rated full-back Layvin Kurzawa and could be set to make a move for the star in the summer.
The Gunners rate the left-back at around £17million and Italian media outlet Sport Mediaset claim the side from north London will make a move to sign Kurzawa whether Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger stays at the club or not.
Kurzawa is highly rated and is reported to be a summer target identified by Wenger as a summer signing. Spanish international Nacho Monreal and Kieran Gibbs have competed for the left-back position in the last few seasons.
Neither have been in great form or regarded as top-class players in their position, so a quality arrival would no doubt earn a regular place in the Gunners starting line-up.
French international Kurzawa has enjoyed a good campaign so far for PSG, scoring three times and providing five assists for the Parisians. He is a player that can definitely contribute at both ends of the field for his team. Kurzawa was, of course, part of the PSG team that hammered Spanish champions Barcelona 4-0 in the Champions League.
Kurzawa only moved to PSG in 2015 from Monaco but has impressed in the French capital. The 24-year-old currently has six caps to his name, having turned down the opportunity to play for the country of his mother’s birth Poland.
Kurzawa would be a good signing
Kurzawa being linked with a move to Arsenal considering Wenger’s liking of signing his compatriots. However, the full-back has not just impressed at PSG, but also when he was playing for Monaco, where he won the Ligue 2 title under former Leicester boss Claudio Ranieri.
For me, Kurzawa would be a good signing and an upgrade on the Gunners current pair of left-backs. However, the Gunners may have trouble prizing the full-back away from PSG, who are unlikely to want to sell their full-back, who they paid 23million euros for.
PSG are upwardly mobile under Unai Emery, as they showed in the defeat of Spanish giants Barcelona in the Champions League. The Gunners are in a battle to just finish in the top-four of the Premier League this season.
It will be interesting to see if any move for the full-back comes off, then the future of both Monreal and Gibbs will be thrown into doubts at the club.
