Premier League outfit Arsenal have reportedly set their sights of Trabzonspor midfield sensation Abdulkadir Omur.
The 18-year-old starlet is the product of Trabzonspor youth development who has been gaining plenty of attention with a string of impressive first-team performances this season.
Omur forced his way through Trabzonspor youth ranks into the senior squad last December when he made his Super Lig debut. It did not take too long for Omur to score his first – and only – senior goal in a Turkish Cup clash five days later.
The talented Turkish Under-19 international has thus far made five competitive outings and registered two assists for his team along the way. His impressive displays have already put the host of European clubs on alert with Arsenal believed to be leading the way.
The Gunners will face a fight with La Liga giants Atletico Madrid, however, who have also expressed interest in signing one of the most talented Turkish youngsters.
Arsenal and Atletico Madrid interest in the lad was confirmed by former Trabzonspor director Sadi Tekelioglu who claims Arsenal are in front of the Spanish side.
“Arsenal want to sign Abdulkadir. I heard that Atletico Madrid are interested in him as well. But Arsenal are ahead of them in the race to sign Omur. Arsene Wenger does a good job when it comes to discovering young players.”, Tekelioglu said.
Gunners are believed to be preparing a January bid for the talented Turkish midfielder.
