North London club Arsenal have decided to step into the race for Real Madrid midfield talent Dani Ceballos, according to various reports.
The 21-year-old is enduring a frustrating time at Santiago Bernabeu and could be out of Madrid this January in search of regular playing time and Arsenal are one of the clubs currently linked with a move for him.
Ceballos joined Los Blancos this summer after a brilliant Under-21 European Championship campaign as part of Florentino Perez’s plan to add more homegrown players to Real Madrid squad.
The midfielder, however, largely failed to break into the first team at Real Madrid, playing only 11 games this season, five of which came in La Liga.
In total he amassed not more than 406 minutes of football for the reigning European and Spanish champions.
Dani Ceballos nevertheless used the limited time to show his worth and in his two La Liga starts this season the Spanish midfielder managed to score two goals and scoop a man-of-the-match performance for Real Madrid at Alaves.
AS Roma have already expressed interest in former Real Betis midfielder although the English media claim both Arsenal and Tottenham are prepared to fight for his signature.
Gunners see Ceballos as a long-term replacement for injury-stricken Santi Cazorla. The Spaniard is seen as a natural fit into Arsenal’s philosophy with his style of play, vision and versatility.
