Arsenal are said to be interested in offering the out-of-sorts Chelsea defender David Luiz an escape route out of Stamford Bridge.
The Brazilian defender has fallen out of favour under Antonio Conte and has been involved in only one of 10 games for his team since questioning the manager’s tactics in the 3-0 Champions League defeat at the hands of AS Roma back in October.
Even though the club insists a knee injury is the only thing keeping the 30-year-old defender out of the first team at Chelsea at the moment, it is believed that the story is much deeper than that.
Andreas Christiansen had been called upon to replace Luiz in the first team and has done a wonderful job flourishing in Brazilian’s absence. The 21-year-old Denmark international is set to sign a contract extension as a reward for fine displays because of which Antonio Conte is now willing to sell Luiz in January.
The likes of Juventus and Manchester United have already been linked with a winter move for the Brazilian defender but The Sun now claims Arsenal are prepared to step in the race with a £25 million offer.
The Gunners have had some problems at the back and could use a quality defender such as David Luiz.
The question remains whether Arsenal have what it takes to tempt the 30-year-old Brazilian who would be looking to join a side competing for highest honours on all fronts.
With Arsenal currently sitting in fifth in the Premier League standings and without Champions League football to offer to former PSG player, grabbing David Luiz would be a mission impossible.
