Arsenal Interested in Ali Adnan

Posted on July 11, 2013 by Crippy Cooke

Iraqi international left-back Ali Adnan is attracting the interest of a host of sides this summer.

Arsenal, Sevilla, Galatasaray, and Al-Gharrafa have all been linked with the 19-year old defender. He currently plays for Baghdad FC in the Iraqi Premier League.

He’s represented Iraq on 17 occasions, and featured in this season’s U-20 World Cup. He played in the side which drew 2-2 against England’s U20s – scoring a terrific solo goal.

Once again, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is looking to the future, and regards Ali Adnan as a terrific prospect. While the Gunners currently have Kieran Gibbs and Ignacio Monreal fighting for the left-back spot, Adnan could provide stiff competition in the future should he sign for the London side.

The 19-year old is a pacey defender and full of energy. He is very attack-minded and is an expert set-piece taker. Adnan is certainly making a name for himself and will consider offers this summer.

His value is yet to be determined, but his asking price is reportedly a nominal fee.

The opportunity to play in Europe for one of the giants will prove too good to turn down for Adnan, and his time with Baghdad FC looks set to come to an end.

This guy is a fantastic player with a very bright future! Very powerful, dominates his wing. He can easily dribble past 3/4 players and unleash a rocket of a shot. He’s great at free kicks as well.

Im not sure if he is good enough for Arsenal (right now), also LB seems to be the least important position to upgrade. Getting a work permit will be an issue.

One last thing, he played against Man U’s Uruguayan RB and got past him relatively easily. Good thing to keep in mind if ManU ever use this Uruguayan player in the future haha.

easily the best talent in the u20 wc in my opinion!!
one hell of a shot with both feet, outstanding pace, dominant defending, dribbling skills and impressive awareness (he saved 4 shots off the line for iraq in the wc)… brilliant player to say the least. He may not be better than gibbs and nacho atm, but he definitely has more potential…

This kid is a absolute genius, Has a Very bright future! She Should Join Galatasaray because arsenal will just bench him and simply ruin his career, he’s Very Smart, Could easily play as a left wing, it’s a shame if this player does not play in Europe as he could become something big on the future, great technique, Amazing Skills, Ball Control And has a amazing shot, to sum it all up he is a complete player!
    Goodluck Ali Adnan, Peace.

Brilliant young talent , easily the best and most influential player in the U20 tournament. I personally would sign him for Arsenal and then put him on loan to a different club to gain experience. Brilliant talent , Wenger Sign him up !

  12. Alba says:

I’m a big fan of Arsenal! This player has already been sold. But I still think he is a great prospect that Arsenl have to get their hands on !! Adnan might be a great future replacement (options: LB, RB, RM & LM) for the old Arsnel players.
