Bordeaux in-form starlet Malcom has been one of the hotly debated transfer stories during the January market.
The 20-year-old talent has emerged as one of the greatest European prospects with his impressive Ligue 1 displays turning plenty of heads lately and it was widely believed that the Brazilian would be changing clubs during the winter transfer window.
Reports in Brazil have it that Malcom held talks with Mauricio Pochettino about joining Tottenham Hotspur, while it was also reported he rejected a chance to move to Arsenal.
The Gunners were said to be involved in January negotiations with Bordeaux who in the end rejected the approach after consultations with the player himself.
Malcom has now revealed his wish to move on at some point in his career, stating that it is his dream to progress. He is hoping for a potential summer deal which comes as a huge boost to Arsenal’s chances of landing the talented Brazilian at the end of the season.
“It’s my dream to progress in my career,” he told Telefoot, stating that he also held talks with the club president Stephane Martin.
“I spoke to the president, he told me that he knew it was my dream, but that he needed me. I told him he could count on me until the end of the season. I will do everything to help Bordeaux finish in the top six in Ligue 1.”, Malcom added.
Bordeaux were holding on to a £45 million transfer fee for their starlet but were never going to let him leave this winter with former boss Jocelyn Gourvennec and current manager Gus Poyet categorically ruling out his sale midway through the season.
Arsenal were desperate to add more firepower up front after losing Alexis Sanchez to Manchester United but ended up doing a rather impressive work in the market by grabbing the likes of Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Borussia Dortmund forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang who’s already opened his Arsenal account this weekend.
