Arsenal have been handed a major boost in the race to sign Bordeaux forward Malcom as Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich seem to have effectively pull out of the chase.
The Bavarians were believed to be leading the chase for the Brazilian as several club officials confirmed their interest, but it appears that head coach Jupp Heynckes doesn’t share their opinion.
Namely, the experienced tactician has made it clear he is not interested in 21-year-old winger.
“I have never seen him play,” Heynckes told at a press conference. “Therefore, I am not able give an opinion on him.
“But I don’t think there is interest here. He always gets put into the shopping window but nobody really goes after him.”
The news will come as a huge boost for North London rivals Arsenal and Tottenham, who are weighing up summer move for the Brazilian.
Malcom has already expressed his desire to continue his career in English Premier League, but it remains to be seen whether his suitors will be able to find an agreement with Bordeaux, who are holding out for £50 million.
The Brazilian has been in fine form this season, producing 8 goals and 6 assists in 27 league outings, and he is widely expected to leave for greener pastures in the summer.
Even though Arsenal reinforced their front line with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Henrikh Mkhitaryan in January, they could still make their move on Malcom in the summer transfer window.
