Manchester United defender Luke Shaw has been enduring a difficult time at Old Trafford under Jose Mourinho.
The 22-year-old has made only six Premier League starts this season whereas he was being pushed in and out of the first-team for the best part of Mourinho’s reign at Manchester United.
The Portuguese boss has most recently reintroduced Shaw into his team and even claimed that Shaw will be offered a new deal to extend his stay beyond the 2018/19 season when his current contract will expire.
Former Southampton left-back has an option for one further year in his current deal but Shaw is hoping for an increase in his wage package which currently stands at £80,000 a week. Shaw is looking to get something between £120,000 and £150,000 per week which could prove to be a stumbling block in the negotiations with Manchester United.
On the other hand, The Mirror claims that talks over a new deal are yet to commence, which has alternatively alerted London rivals Chelsea and Arsenal.
The player could opt to move to London should Mourinho have another change of heart on Shaw’s position in the team and decide to sell him at the end of the season.
Arsenal could use a player like Shaw who would be given a chance to revive his career at the Emirates and add important value to Arsenal’s backline which remains one of the weakest points in Wenger’s team.
