Arsenal battled to a 2-1 win over Swansea on Saturday as they maintained their momentum following a very good run of form.
Sead Kolasinac and Aaron Ramsey’s goals were enough to see the London side past the Swans after the visitors had taken the lead through Sam Clucas’ first-half strike.
The latest victory means Arsenal now have 19 points, one short of Tottenham in third, and three clear of Liverpool in sixth. Considering they were in crisis a few weeks ago, they have undergone a remarkable turnaround of late to get their campaign back on track.
Indeed, while they are still nine points off Manchester City in the Premier League, they are looking very strong in the Europa League and the Carabao Cup, two competitions they recently recorded victories in.
Perhaps the Europa League should now become a priority for Arsene Wenger, as a triumph in the competition gives a club access to the Champions League, with Europe’s premier competition often proving a stumbling block for the biggest of signings.
Returning to the Champions League is all the more important to Arsenal now, following news that there could be a clearout at Real Madrid soon, meaning Karim Benzema may be up for sale.
According to Don Balon, Florentino Perez wants to push out some players on bigger wages to allow for fresh faces to be brought in, which means that Wenger may finally have the chance to catch his man.
Despite bringing in Alexandre Lacazette in the summer, Arsenal do still need striking talent up front, and Benzema may provide the perfect transfer for the London side.
