Arsenal might have lost their star player Alexis Sanchez this winter but all will be forgotten should Arsenal pull off a couple of high-profile transfers that are currently being mentioned in the press.
Arsene Wenger has been given plenty of stick for his transfer policy over the past couple of season during which an apparent lack of high-profile players has been highlighted as the major problem.
The appointment of Sven Mislintat as chief scout seems to have made an instant impact at the Emirates with former Borussia Dortmund man making firm moves to overhaul Arsenal’s outdated scouting system and recruiting service which put too much pressure on Arsene Wenger.
The man who helped Dortmund sign the likes of Ousmane Dembele, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang continues to turn heads much to the delight of Arsenal supporters.
With Arsenal grabbing Mkhitaryan from Manchester United and sitting on the verge of sealing the move for Aubameyang – two of former Mislintat’s protegees – another high-profile name is being currently linked with Arsenal.
According to reports from the British press, Gunners have been offered a chance to sign Chelsea defender David Luiz.
The Brazilian international has fallen out of Antonio Conte’s favour at Stamford Bridge and is said to be involved in Blues’ transfer swap package for Olivier Giroud. The Blues are on the lookout for attacking reinforcements with Alvaro Morata out of form and Giroud is one of the names topping their list after Edin Dzeko said no to Conte’s side.
The 30-year-old Luiz is currently available at 8/1 betting odds with Arsenal being presented as firm favourites to sign the Brazilian this winter.
Luiz would be a significant upgrade to Wenger’s shaky defence line and another confirmation of Wenger and Mislintat’s desire to build a competitive squad at the Emirates.
