Arsenal are reportedly back in the hunt for Sevilla midfielder Steven N’Zonzi. The player is supposedly on the Gunners’ radar along with a number of other targets with speculation intensifying after their 3-1 defeat at the hands of Manchester United in the Premier League on Saturday.
It was not the result Arsenal wanted nor deserved, with Manchester United leaving the Emirates with all three points. The game was notable for its entertaining and attacking style, with the Gunners superb going forward, but ultimately thwarted by David de Gea, who was in inspired form.
The defeat means Arsenal have fallen down to fifth in the league, a point behind fourth-placed Liverpool, and four points behind Chelsea in third. The fact that neither Tottenham nor Burnley could win at the weekend means that there is still a gap between themselves and Arsenal, but it was a disappointing day nonetheless.
The loss has seen a number of reports regarding Arsenal’s potential transfer targets only intensify, with the Gunners in need of reinforcements in key areas. Indeed, Sevilla’s Steven N’Zonzi is said to be back on Arsenal’s list.
AS have reported that N’Zonzi is supposedly angry after being subbed off in Sevilla’s 3-3 draw with Liverpool, which could open the door to a return to the Premier League. A £35 million release clause is very little to pay if he can provide a solid base in the middle, with the Gunners missing a strong foundation in midfield this season.
