For years now Aaron Ramsey has been a hot and cold member of the Arsenal first team, in that he has spells of success before stretches which make many fans wonder why he’s there in the first place. Still, it feels like he’s been around at the Emirates for as long as we can remember, and if the 27-year-old were to leave the club, it would certainly leave a void.
As reported by Metro, it’s starting to look like him going elsewhere is going to be a real possibility heading into the summer transfer window. His current situation has drawn comparisons to the issues that Arsenal faced with Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez, and in all honesty, it doesn’t feel like these problems are going to go away until a new manager is brought in to calm things down around here.
There are so many different complications regarding contracts and ongoing tactics, and the current hunt for Arsene Wenger’s successor is only serving to make this process even more gruelling for Arsenal supporters.
It seems as if Ramsey calls into the category of ‘I want to be paid like the best players at this club’, which makes sense, but at the same time, you have to question just how vital he is to the operation at the Emirates. He’s been known to go missing for several games at a time, and that’s not exactly someone who is going to be at the top of the priority list when it comes to new deals.
The report suggests that Arsenal could welcome offers of up to £40 million for Aaron, which in our mind, is something they’d have to strongly consider. While he could easily move into his prime in the next few years, that’s still a lot of money, and they’ve been able to get a good tenure out of him up to this point.
It all comes down to Ramsey’s attitude, because while he can come up with the big moments they need sometimes, other players are also capable of providing that service – and when the new manager comes in, there needs to be an ‘all hands on deck’ type of mentality in order to get Arsenal back to where they belong. If Ramsey is only looking out for himself, a clear message needs to be sent to the rest of the squad.
Should Arsenal do everything they can to keep Aaron Ramsey?
