Arsenal host already-relegated Sunderland at the Emirates Stadium in the Premier League this evening, and are big favourites to make light work of the struggling Black Cats to keep their hopes of a top-four finish alive. The Gunners have been in fine form at the end of the season and could find themselves in a Champions League place if results go their way on the night.
Arsene Wenger’s Arsenal side find themselves fifth in the Premier League table with 69 points from 36 games this season, winning five of their last six outings. The Gunners are three points adrift of fourth-placed Manchester City who face West Bromwich Albion this evening, and whom they could overtake if they win convincingly against Sunderland and City lost heavily – a six-goal turnaround is also needed.
On home soil, Arsenal have won four and drawn one of their last five games, losing only two of their 17 games at the Emirates Stadium, giving them confidence of comfortably dispatching of Sunderland. As for the visitors, David Moyes’ Sunderland are rock bottom of the division and having lost three of their last four games.
The Black Cats have picked up just one win in their last 12 games, losing nine, and have a woeful away record too – suffering 12 defeats in their previous 15 games on the road. As a result, Arsenal are 1/11 to win against Sunderland this evening.
