Alexis Sanchez stories will not go away

Posted on July 23, 2017 by David Nugent

It seems the stories about Alexis Sanchez will just not go away at the moment. The latest story reported by Sky Sports suggests that French club PSG are set to bid around £35million for the Chilean star.

Sanchez’s future at Arsenal has been in doubt for some time, as the 28-year-old has just 12 months left on his contract with the north London club.

A number of British media outlets are also reporting that the French club are set to sign Barcelona and Brazil forward Neymar in a deal worth £195million this summer.

Wenger has stated Sanchez will not leave this summer

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has recently stated that Sanchez will not be leaving the club this summer, despite his contract situation. It is a gamble by the Frenchman that Sanchez will help the club back into the lucrative Champions League spots next season.

You have to wonder if Wenger would even consider changing his stance on Sanchez if any big money bid offers came for the Chilean. Could he just be attempting to wring more money out of a potential sale?

It seems an unlikely scenario, as if the Frenchman did now sell Sanchez after he stated he would not he will look like a fool.

Sanchez reportedly wants to leave

There have been various reports that Sanchez wants to leave the club, as he wants to play Champions League football. The Chilean has already rejected offers of a new deal with the Gunners and is seems highly unlikely to sign a new deal in north London.

The former Barcelona star may be more than happy to sit on his contract for a year at Arsenal and then leave as a free agent next summer. The Chilean will then not only pick up massive wages but a big signing on fee.

Worth keeping him for the next season

The Gunners have so far not been bullied into selling the star. It seems that Wenger’s decision to keep Sanchez may be a sensible one. The forward’s performance level is unlikely to drop, as he will be in the shop window and playing for a big money move elsewhere.

Arsenal are a far better team with Alexis Sanchez playing than not. It just seems like a shame that the forward has decided to leave the club at some point during the next year or so.

Are Arsenal doing the right thing by refusing to sell Alexis Sanchez?
