Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger confirmed that Chilean star Alexis Sanchez will miss the opening Premier League game against Leicester City on Friday.
The 28-year-old forward missed the Community Shield triumph over Chelsea with a flu, although there were some contrasting reports regarding his unavailability as Arsene Wenger now said Sanchez was out with an abdominal strain.
“Sanchez will not be available. He had a little abdominal strain that he caught on Sunday morning in training. he had the scan two days ago. He’s out for, er, I don’t know,” Wenger told journalists.
Chile international has been heavily linked with a move away from the north London club during summer even though Wenger remains adamant Sanchez would stay at Arsenal. In the meantime, heavy spenders Paris Saint-Germain appear to be willing to test Wenger’s resolve with another big-money offer following the world-record €222 million deal for Brazil superstar Neymar.
The Independent is spreading the word of PSG’s £80 million approach for Alexis Sanchez as the Ligue 1 giants remain in the market for reinforcement upfront.
The Chile superstar remains the top target despite the reported interest in Kylian Mbappe who is also of interest for Les Parisiens.
Alexis Sanchez is entering the final year of his Arsenal deal and Arsenal appear to be willing to risk losing him on a free deal next summer, even though many believe that Arsene Wenger would change his mind in case a foreign team such as PSG comes with a significant offer for the Chilean.
Alexis Sanchez was involved in 38 Premier League outings for Arsenal last season. He scored 24 goals during that time, putting in a string of top-notch performances along the way.
