Serie A fallen giants AC Milan have reportedly set their sights on Arsenal defender Laurent Koscielny.
The Daily Mirror understands that the Italian heavyweights look to continue the rebuilding process by adding experience and quality to their back line and Laurent Koscielny has been identified as one of the top summer transfer targets.
The 31-year-old has been already linked with a return to France as Marseille expressed interest in the experienced Gunners star. Koscielny suggested Marseille move could be hard to resist in the future, given the fact he was a Marseille fan in his young days.
“I have always said that I was a Marseille fan when I was younger. When a mythical club like Marseille contact you, it is good. But will I sign for them? I have no idea at all.”, Koscielny said.
A couple of Chinese sides and Manchester City were also thought to be eyeing the Gunners man who has been one of the most consistent performers for Arsene Wenger’s side last season.
Arsenal’s captain last season has insisted his future lies with the FA Cup winners with whom he signed a contract extension that is expected to keep him at Emirates until 2020.
It remains to be seen however if both Arsenal and Koscielny could resist a temptation to accept AC Milan’s offer who continue to splash money under the new Chinese owners.
Rossoneri have already secured four summer signings and sit on the verge of nailing Fabio Borini from Sunderland.
AC Milan went through an ownership restructure back in April and the Chinese group leading the club is determined to bring glory days back to once the glorious Italian club.
